On the coming 28 July, La Massana will host the Skyrace Comapedrosa, which is part of the Migu Run Skyrunner® World Series

More than 1,100 participants from 28 different countries will be part of the starting lineup, alongside some of the best skyrunners in the world.

Starting from Arinsal, where the presentation took place this morning, the race will be part of the Migu Run Skyrunner® World Series, the Skyrunner® National Series and the Andorran Mountain Races Cup.

Therefore, the roll call of participants will include distinguished names such as Sheila Avilés, Sanna El Kott, Georgia Tindley, Claudia Zapata, Marc Pinsach, Kiril Nikolov, Borja Fernández and local runners Óscar and Marc Casal.

The Skyrace Comapedrosa will cover 21 kilometres and 2,235 m +, taking all those participating up to the highest peak in Andorra at an altitude of 2,942 metres, which will help decide the general classification of the 2019 World Cup. It will be a fast and exciting race with no time at all to breathe.

‘The weekend will be a genuine celebration and I encourage everyone to take part. I'm sure it will be, for yet another year, a great success’, said David Baró, consul of La Massana.

‘Events like this help us to promote Andorra as a place that hosts top-level races’, said Enric Torres, director of New Projects at Andorra Tourism.

‘It’s a pleasure to host a race of this level and to be able to promote our mountains’, said Carlo Ferrari, technical director of the Andorran Mountain Federation.

Meanwhile, Albert Balcells, director of the Skyrace Comapedrosa, referred to the increase in participants since the first edition, reaching more than 1,000 participants across all the different events taking place over the weekend.

‘Welcoming this race gives great international publicity to Andorra’, said Jaume Esteve, president of the Andorran Mountain Federation.

While Josep Marticella, director of EMAP, remarked that the price of the cable car will be set at an affordable rate, so that everyone can access different points of the race.

Competitions for everyone

The Skyrace Comapedrosa is a genuine skyrunning celebration; everyone will be able to make the most of a race that perfectly suits them, so that they can enjoy a weekend out in the mountains.

On 28 July, alongside the Skyrace Comapedrosa, it will also be the turn of the Skyrace Arinsal, a 15-km race with 1,325 m +, which serves as an introduction to mountain races.

Alongside this, the Catalonia Kids Cup will take place the day before. The Catalan Mountain Racing Cup moves to Andorra for the second year running with different circuits categorised according to age (Under 16s: 6 km, Under 14s: 5 km, Under 12s: 4 km, Under 10s: 3 km, Under 8s: 2 km and Under 5s: 1 km).

Why would you dare miss a weekend designed especially for those who love sport and the mountains.
